CLECO (formerly the Central Louisiana Electric Company) is an energy services company headquartered in Pineville, La. It operates a regulated electric utility company, Cleco Power, that serves approximately 281,000 customers across Louisiana. Cleco also operates an unregulated wholesale energy business, Cleco Midstream, with approximately 775 megawatts of generating capacity.

Cleco Power began collaborating with Louisiana Tech University on the development of commercial applications for geopolymer concrete and grouts made using fly ash from Dolet Hills Power Station in Mansfield.  Later, as part of a different research project, Cleco partnered with Louisiana State University’s college of engineering to study the effect of electric vehicle chargers on the distribution grid of selected residential substations.
